The Environment Agency has been carrying out regular refurbishment and maintenance of the 202 tonne steel barrier since 1996.
Amco Engineering has been contracted by the Agency to carry out vital maintenance work to the lighting system which controls the shipping traffic. Because the area around the lights is also accessible to the general public, it is crucial that workers have safe, secure and controlled access at all times.
